  17. <p>    Many authors agonize for years over their work. Not so
  18. Barbara Cartland, 88. Britain's queen of romance recently
  19. dictated her 500th novel, Spirit of Love. This phenomenal output
  20. has kept the Princess of Wales' stepgrandmum in bespoke hats and
  21. Rolls-Royces. Spirit features a young woman who "saves herself"
  22. for her true love. Fans will have to wait quite a while for the
  23. veddy proper denouement, however. Cartland writes at such a pace
  24. that her publishers have got around to sending only about 450
  25. volumes to the printer.
